how to upgrade and to download?

Hello Everybody,

i have two problems.

first: How can i upgrade to 1.4? It does not work via apt-get upgrade / update /  dist-update

my kernel version is 1.3.19! Is that maybe already the latest?

second: i am not able to add components via the ebox component manager. All i can see is the trash bin but not the green download button. I have tried a suggestion from this forum, where they say, deaktivate the system manager module. But that unfortunately does not work for me

Any suggestions?

Have you edited the /etc/apt/sources.list file to point to the 1.4 repository?

If you are upgrading from 1.3, read this if you encounter any problem:

thank you for your quick answer. I have now successfully updated by putting the following into /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ebox/1.4/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ebox/1.4/ubuntu hardy main


Now i have had the green download button in the ebox components section. But as soon as i installed a component the download buttons were gone again. Deleting the component did not bring it back.

Any suggestions?

If I'm following your question, when an eBox module is installed the software management list shows only the "trash can" icon for module delete. There won't be a "download" icon for anything already installed until there is a newer module package.

eBox caches software information, and that can be refreshed manually by running ebox-software from the command line. Otherwise eBox does a refresh during nighttime hours. If you refresh the cache manually, does the software list look as you would expect?

cheers for your suggestion. Unfortunately i did not take look before i ran the "ebox-software" command in the CLI. Nevertheless the download buttons are now available and even after installing/downloading something the buttons stay.
