Outlook with Zentyal 5
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:54:55 pm »
Hello,

I configured a test server with Zentyal 5 and i m trying to use it with Outlook. I tried many version of Outlook and no one is working. I just read that i could not use Mapi anymore with Zentyal 5 so i tried Active Sync with Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016. And i always get the same error:  Log onto Exchange ActiveSync mail server (EAS): The server cannot be found. The activeSync Module is enabled and the SOGO web mail is working fine. I m working within my lan and the server is reachable from my pc. Do i forget anything?

Best Regards.

Hi,

is your test client a domain member?
How did you configure your Outlook?
Does your test client use the Zentyal DNS? Is there a DNS entry in your DNS Settings?

I am still using Zentyal 4.2, because there is still MAPI support (configuration via autodiscover is working perfect).

Regards

Thomas

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

- My test client is on the domain managed by the zentyal Server
- It's using Zentyal server as a DNS wich is working fine, tested with Nslookup.
- i tried to use Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016. On the 2013,I  tried a normal MAPI config. with the address IP of the zentyal server as Exchange server. i tried different type on login:
jsmith@mycompany.lan, jsmith@mycompany.com, mycompany\jsmith. And it nerver worked out.
- On both 2013 and 2016 i tried the activesync connection with the same login and server address.

Best regards.

Yes.  Update to 5.1.1.  SOGo now supports ActiveSync.  Autodiscover is unavailable, but if you use manual configuration it'll work.  At least it works in Outlook 2016 - can't speak for others.

I have the same problem with Zentyal 4.3, 5.0 5.1- none of those versions i tried work with outlook or thunderbird. I tried as domain member, password, ssl, etc. None of them work. WebMail SOGo works perfect! Mobile devices (Android) works perfect too. But desktop clients don't. Any idea?

Hi

Mine connected without an issue on Outlook 2016.  What version of Outlook are you using?
