External Mail
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:46:59 pm »
Hello All,
I have Zentyal 4 working as alternative Exchange. I have setup a local mail server and every single mail account is related with external one. i can retrieve e-mails very well, But when i send an e-mail the sender shows is the local one. I tried every possible configuration (alias, virtual domain) noway.
also i had issue with synchronizing contact and calendar.

Any suggestion ??
Kindly help if any one have an idea.

Hello Azaer,

Right now i cannot check the configuration on my server but I'm pretty sure that this is a normal behavior for your current config. You should check all the outgoing mail configuration. Are you using POP3 or IMAP?

Hello Joan Marc Guillamon, and Thank you for reply

Are you using POP3 or IMAP?
I tried both and had the same result.

"You should check all the outgoing mail configuration"
can you give me details about outgoing configuration?

Thank You,

azaer

I think this is an issue with the "first" Mailadress of the Users. ATM I do not have access to the Admin GUI, but I think the setting is in the User preferences (standard / first Mail Address)

We have the same situation:  Every user is "username@company.com" but the local Zentyal user is "username@company.lan".
Every user account fetches external mail from "username@company.com".
We use the following Thunderbird mail client settings to work properly:
For fetching mail: Mail is fetched from zentyal-server.company.lan  with user "username@company.lan" and local lan password for user.
For sending mail: Mail is SENT by mail.company.COM (dot com!!) with user "username@company.COM" (dot com!! not lan!) and remote password (different password!!!)
I hope that helps. It works for us, for years now.
