Domain Controller installs automatically
« on: January 30, 2015, 09:04:50 pm »
Is there a way to set this server up without installing the domain controller component? Every time I select the Mail and Groupware to install I get about a dozen other components installed with it. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you!

Hello:

Zentyal uses samba as the LDAP for users (needed for mail ) so no, I'm afraid that with Zentyal you will need a DC in order to create a mail server.

I already have two Domain Controllers and really don't need another. My current email server (Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL, MailScanner) uses our current DC for authentication and I would like to do the same with this server if possible. I really like the integration of OpenChange and the price difference over an Exchange Server. :-)

Regards!

Hello I don't this kind of environment (OpenChange Server without  being a DC) is being supported by Zentyal Server for now. Actually, Openchange needs to be an Schema Master to extend AD Schema as it needs some attributes on AD LDAP which are not present in default Schema
