2 Zentyal Servers 1 AD domain
« on: January 06, 2015, 11:29:07 pm »
I have been toying with the idea of deploying two zentyal systems to my network to provide redundancy for authentication and DNS as well as to split off services. My idea is to have 1 system act as the mail server with open change enabled and DNS. The other is to have DHCP, DNS, and File Sharing enabled. Seems simple in theory but in testing it looks like there is no way to have the systems keep all DNS zones in synch with each other.

Anyone know if this is possible or should I try to find another solution.

TIA

This should be deffinitely possible. Just make sure that Openchange server is deployed first.

That is what I tried. I got the mail portion up and running with the virtual domains that would be hosted in openchange. All was good until I added the second zentyal system and joined it to the mail server and added 3 local sub domains for DNS/DHCP on the second server. None of the sub domains IP addresses would resolve from the mail server and none of the domains/IP I had on the mail server would resolve. Looking at the configuration file level at the DNS server showed that the DNS servers did not synchronize the domains between both systems.

Any ideas?

That's right. An AD will only sinc the AD domain, not any other
