Jabber Server Flakey
« on: December 04, 2009, 03:10:19 am »
After a reboot this afternoon I nor can any of the user's login to Jabber. I have stopped and restarted Jabber several times so far. It keeps saying the username and password's are incorrect. Went through the users and reset the PW's and such, I also disabled and reinabled the Jabber module at least 3 times.

I looked for Jabber in the eBox Logs and there are none.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks

Dragon

have a look at the ssl configuration on the server and on the clients, probably is that.

if you enable ssl on the server, you have to enable too on the clients.

That's the point I was making. I rebooted the server and did not change any configurations on server or client. It just stopped accepting connections, and I did try changing the server and client to no authentication and still no go.

The Spark client does auth automatically based on how the server is setup.

This is why I wanted to see if there is a log some place that will show me what was changed and when, so I can better understand.

sudo apt-get purge ebox-jabber
sudo apt-get install ebox-jabber

The I deleted my account from ebox and started it anew, same results Username or Password invalid, and just so I would know. I tried 5 other IM clients besides Spark which was working fine at this time yesterday.

And to add to my misery, the ebox server is no longer in the Network section of 90% of my users PC's. You can get there via \\server-name.

And the real kicker is that I just did a fresh install last week, and I also noticed egroupware no longer works either.

Sucks to be me ???

the logs seems to be fine, the user is successfully authenticated. can you post screenshots of your ebox-jabber configuration, and your client configuration and error ? never tried with spark, but pidgin and psi work out of the box here.

Jabber server Configuration, this is the exact configuration that worked until 3 days ago, I also tried Hostname, and the IP Address for the server, always same results. Username or Password invalid.

Spark Configuration, and just so you know I also tried 5 other open source IM clients to see if that was the issue.

can you try to connect with ssl disabled, both in ebox-server and client ? probably on the client you have to check an option like "allow connections over unencrypted streams".
