Moving from Beta to released software
« on: June 24, 2014, 09:37:52 pm »
I have a server that has the Beta 3.1.13 installed, and I would like to move it to the released version of 3.4. I was wondering if there is any advice other than wipe, re-install and restore.

Sadly, no.
If you upgrade from a beta to stable release you will get problems.
As far as I can remember upgrades are always problematic, even between stable versions.
You can get away with a config backup and restore perhaps.

Cheers.

Zentyal 3.1 can be changed into a stable Zentyal 3.2 version. If you have enough with the features of Zentyal 3.2 I strongly suggest to stick with that version. Especially if you run the server in a production environment.

Could you tell me how to to upgrade the beta 3.1 to 3.2? Is there a reason not to upgrade to 3.4 in pa production environment? I have read the updates on it and it appears it would fix one of the major issues I am having. If the server loses power Samba4 will not restart without manual intervention. I am not sure why, but I would like to get off the beta track.

I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the documentation for the config back up and restore? I have been looking for the documentation for it and I can't seem to find it.
