DNS and Active Directory issue
« on: March 06, 2014, 02:17:05 pm »
Hello, I have a big problem with windows client when try to join in active directory, i receive error message. I have installed on host debian a KVM with dhcp and dns, and on this system I create two vps, on first vps I have installed zentyal 3.2 in master and on second vps in slave mode. the zentyal works fine, on windows client I set the static IP with zentyals DNS, but when I try to join to domain I receive a Not Find Domain error message, but if I stop the DNS on host debian it works. What is the problem??

"Windows" (and Samba) domain discovery is based on DNS SRV records.
I suppose your devices are using your debian server as primary DNS server ans this one doesn't contain any SRV record pointing to your Samba domain.

My own guess only....  ;)

Yep, everything is pointing to a DNS issue. Also, make sure that your scenario is synchronized with an NTP server ;)
