I'm setting up an ebox server for file/print web and email server. everything's working except email. I'm pretty new to DNS and have never set up a server before. I would like my email to be set up so that I can have email accounts in the form of
user@domain.com (I have a public domain) but when I go to set up my users addresses, it looks like I'm limited to
user@mail.domain.com. I've played around with the virtual mail domain settings, but I'm at a loss. My public domain resolves properly to my server's IP, and I've tried to set up the MX records, but have had absolutely no luck with sending or receiving with either
user@domain.com or
user@mail.domain.com. I'm sure I'm missing something super obvious! is there a step by step set-up guide somewhere? I'm having trouble locating one that deals with setting up plain old pop and smtp for the users on my ebox.
