scheduled shutdown
« on: January 04, 2014, 01:02:49 pm »
Hi,

I am a total Zentyal/Linux newbie.

But i already managed to install a Zentyal-Server. :)
As i gain experience with Zentyal, i would like to install more functions, but right now i just want to use it as a fileserver.

To save energy it should automatically shutdown. I think of a scheduled shutdown of the server after let say about 20 minutes after the last access.

How do i implenment this functionality?

Thanks in advance...

On Linux servers, cronjobs can be used for scheduled tasks. They are not added to the webgui but it should be possible to add those manually.

I think it's a very good idea.

Zentyal can be efficiently while working with nature.

It can be programmed to "cronjobs" but as I do to detect if there usaurios online?

I have a question for developers of Zentyal in zentyal db there any record that is created when a session is opened and deleted when the session is closed? If so, we can extract data from there to make the script.

Thank you!

As far as i understand the cronjob command, it is given for executing code at a given point in time.
I would like to have the server shutdown after a fixed period after the last server access.

All i found at google are some weird scripts which read out CPU idling time for other purposes...  :(

Any further suggestions...?

Edit:
Right Carlos, that woulp help me.

At first i was wondering what the tld .cl means (CyberLand?), but after reading your profile summary i now know that it is Chile. :)

I think the best option is to extract the data from zentyal to schedule the script.

If we do so by using the CPU or RAM can turn off the server or not indiscriminately.

I hope a developer Zentyal we can answer the question.

Right now I'm dealing with another problem with Zentyal 3.3 so I can not dedicate myself to check the database, but when I have more time I will.

P. D.: I am from Chile.
