Pre-deploy; temporarily use one NIC?

I'm planning to use Zentyal as a router, I have two NIC in the box.

However, until I fully deploy the box I want to use just one of the NIC. I have eth0 (the local network) plugged in, I can ping internal, but not external.

I tried swaping to the external - eth1 - but no luck.
