I hesitate to upgrade yet, since you say:

Upgrading from 1.0 to 1.2 might fail. We recommend not to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.2 in production. If you upgrade, be prepared to reconfigure manually some modules. Future releases of 1.2.x should provide a smooth upgrade.

Do you mean to say that in the future an upgrade 1.0 -> 1.2.x is possible, or do you mean further upgrades from 1.2 -> 1.2.x will be possible?

I've been upgrading since 1.0 testing and up to 1.2 testing even. It works great. What do you use eBox for? I use other things on my server not just eBox, and I tend to run into some pretty bad problems. If you listed what you used eBox for, we might be able to tell you what you need to do for an upgrade.

we use in fact several eBoxes, usually just the samba component. I am not aware of one where the egroupware is actually used. Therefore an upgrade should not pose too many problems.
These servers are used within the administrative LAN of schools.

Oh nice. That's not much just using Samba though, but I, as a user of eBox, find it amazing to see it used in such locations.
