Does anybody know: Hidden shares for Windows Clients?
« on: March 04, 2013, 08:52:58 am »
Hi,

for Windows shares, it is possible to end the name using "$". Windows systems do not show such shares. Is a similiar mechanism possible for Zentyal shares? If I e.g. try use "$" as the last letter within a shares name, Zentyal tells that the name contains a forbidden charactar.

Any workarround?

Thanks,

Thorsten

Standard samba would use: 'Browseable = No' option in smb.conf
I don't know how smb.conf gets filled in Zentyal, but probably through a .mas template.

Hi Robb,

thx, I knew that, but you are right - it is controlled by a .mas file - any change will be volotile unless the .mas is changed. But this will be useless without any corresponding checkbox "Hidden path" for the respective share on the Zentyal Web Administration interface. I wll place a feature request :-)

best regards
