cant access shares on win xp

please can somebody help me:

i am running zentyal 3.0.13 and everything is working quite nicely aside fro the network shares:

they all map including the home (set as P:) but when clicking on any of them i get an error- access denied. i have checked all the permissions and they seem alright     

can anyone help me or tell me what logs to look at?

can I assume you are logging in from xp into the zentyal domain?
can you reboot the xp machine (i've had problems with permissions on xp with a reboot solving it) and try mapping a drive but specify a user with elevated (domain admin) rights on the mapping properties to a zentyal share.
you say the current zentyal version is 3.013, do you know what it was when you started enabling the samba module, I have seen a problem with permissions on a low zentyal 3 version number, even upgrading did not fix it for me.
Would you know how to login as root on the zentyal box and check the permissions on a folder?
you say P: is mapped, but is this the one giving the error- access denied?

Your assumption is correct- I am logging into the domain with the xp machine (or client)
I have rebooted the xp several times to no avail.

Connecting the share with elevated rights allowed me access to the share, but the I loose the user quoted and permission/ACL's which are a requirement!

I do not recall what version of zentyal I enabled the samba but I assume it was  3.0.1- from the cd (I stand corrected!)

I have dabbled in Linux a bit before and have looked at the permissions, and they all look correct.
P: is the users drive, and he is the owner and has Read right and execute set.

And to clarify all mapped network drives give access denied errors even if I give the user an explicit ACL to read and right.

The only thing that I can think of is that I have set something in the group policy to block network drives?? Any windows admins that can confirm this?

Can't you start slowly and progress step by step ?
I mean, set-up share without complex GPO just to ensure this works then and only then add some more control or constraints.

I think there is a bug somewhere. Same problem here when adding new users. No access to shares.
Already created users can access shares ok.

I have posted elsewhere, but this is exactly the issue I've been having with samba shares being browsable but not readable by XP. There have been a number of posts about this in the last few days, and none recently that I can see, suggesting that this is could be the result of a samba module update?

Has there been one recently that has maybe broken the filesharing?

I'm a bit of a newb Zentyal-wise, but is it possible to roll back and go to a previous version of a zentyal module to see if it fixes the issue?

have you tried logging the user out and re logging back in? the permissions will only be updated then!!

ok rewriting permisions on shared folders seems to solves the problem through zentyal webinterface ...
or not.
Found the problem: adding a user to shared folders permissions works but adding a new user to a group does not give the user access to shared resources of group.
So there is a bug at User and groups module........

Through file and sharing module in zentyal admin webinterface (ACL's).
Definitely a bug in users module. Users don't inherit groups permissions...
