Static IP problem
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:00:24 am »
Hello :)

I am testing Ebox on a virtual machine with 1 bridged network interface.

I tried these steps under Ubuntu and Mint 7 but get the same error.

I first install linux, then set a static ip address on the machine (default is DHCP).

Install Ebox from repositories. Up to this moment I can still access internet from that machine.

Access the ebox configuration at https://127.0.0.1 and change network settings from "not-set" to the same static ip.

After that I cannot access internet from that machine any more.

I can access access the machine from browser at the static ip anyway.

I tried to remove and add again the network interface from the Ubuntu/Mint7 desktop, but it doesn't solve the problem.

Anyone is having my same problem ?  ???

You must set a default gateway to route outcoming traffic to Internet. To do so, go to Network -> Gateways -> Add new and check "default" attribute. Finally, save changes.

Then, you will have access to Internet.

Regarding to use Ubuntu desktop, take into account to uninstall Network Manager to avoid conflicts with eBox. However, do not recommend installing eBox over Ubuntu desktop since it's server software to run over Ubuntu Server edition.

Best regards,

Thank you, it worked  :)

I used Ubuntu and Mint because they appear to be easier to work with.

Now I keep on testing (and messing ;D) this machine then I will switch to Ebox iso  :)
