zentyal 3.0 cant connect to domain

i turned it off still no go :p

if i do

run: \\COADAVR\ and type in my username and password it takes me to shares so its working within the network just not AD\Domain of "COSMFAD"

Hello ndgamer,

The current firewall is IPTables.  IPTables is mostly doing routing.  Turning it off will disable the routing.

So, in short, you should open it and not turning it off...

yes it does. but my clients then would not be able to take there laptops home they have to pull the automatic DNS settings what if i rebuild it with .local instead of .lan? what is that how does it work?

this is just to try and prove where your problem is located, if this works for you the problems must me in the dns.
like i am saying turn off the firewall this is just to prove if this is blocking it, Marcus is saying to open it which would be better advice for a live environment and at the moment beyond my skills.

it just makes no sense 2.0 is so easy and 3.0 is just so much more complicated does anyone know if its a bad idea to run 2.0 support wise

i'm new to this as well, and as i understand from other posters, the difficulties are due to the more stringent requirements of samba4 (zentyal3)as compared to samba3(zentyal2.xx), hence more experienced posters have been asking if the time/ntp are synced, domain is easier to manage if ends in .lan etc as these can all stop the domain part initially working.

i can add my domain as COSMFAD.local and if i set the DNS under my ip settings as the servers IP. i can not use a .local in my case and need it so i can leave the DNS automatic and just pick up the COSMFAD Domain name.
