Sogo and phpldapadmin
« on: March 26, 2010, 10:00:52 pm »
Hello

excuse for my English but I translate it with Google.

Add to my problem:

I want to install the suite http://www.scalableogo.org/. This is tied for the accounts to an LDAP. Unfortunately, this does not work. Also, I can not login with phpldapadmin with the data from the web interface to this EBox. What are the correct login information to that?

Hoping for your help.

I have the same problem.
With ebox 1.2 I had been able to login in phpldapadmin with "cn=admin,dc=ebox" to make some customization on my ldap tree. But now that i have upgraded to 1.4 and ldap config is changed, i can't login anymore.
I see that now in 1.4 the openldap config is cn=config (RTC, run-time configuration), before in 1.2 was with static files in /etc/ldap.
I still must investigate, but perhaps the phpldapadmin shipped with Hardy does not support this type of configuration.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't e-Groupeware have everything you need?

My answer is about SOGo not LDAP  ;D

I would say EGW does have everything you need if you can live with a web interface only (none of our customers will buy into this).

SOGo with Thunderbird provides the only close MS Exchange/Outlook replacement that I know of. We do have customers that have bought this. And several schools are using SOGo/Thunderbird/Open Office to replace Exchange/Outlook/Office.

Hello and this is exactly what we want to do it. Sure can pe dates and all other show but unfortunately Thunderbird is an example of an appointment process or not recreate as good as in Sogo.

We therefore want to use the Sogo and not the PE.

Therefore, can someone help me with my problem?

Every solution has good and bad sides and none of those two is not 100% good, so everyone decides which one will use.

If you don't have per user computers and couple of persons uses same computer better solution is EGW. You don't store anything locally, everything is safe on server, and there is  no setup on PC.

But as I said before there is no perfect solution.  ;)

I want from my side only to the LDAP read access. Not writing.
It also runs the Sogo not on the same machine.
The authentication of SOGO's like saying only read from LDAP.

What I like about it tidy as Sogo is pe. And the interaction is with Thunderbird, etc. better.

Hi guys,

you are right, with ebox 1.2 you use 'cn=admin,dc=ebox'. But with ebox 1.4 you have to use 'cn=ebox,dc=ebox', or the domain you used during the setup (or reconfig) process.

The password is in /etc/ldap.secret.

I just put a mini howto for SOGo under 'Tips and Tricks' yesterday. It might help you, chrischnian. But you don't really specify your problem, so its hard to say. If you access the ebox LDAP from a remote machine, you have to be aware of the firewall set up as well.

Kind regards,

Björn

Hey people

first thanks for the nice HowTo on tips and tricks.

I now have the following constellation:

EBox is on the 192.168.1.7
Sogo is on the 192.168.1.8

Sogo has created the first table in the MySQL server. Only the authentication with LDAP does not work because there the field with the PW is not there.

How you wear the to there?

A login is not in phpldapadmin still!

Thanks and greetings
