ActiveSync client not synchronize contacts and calendar
« on: October 04, 2012, 09:23:36 am »
Hi,

Active-sync synchronization for emails working with no problem.
However, synchronization of contacts and calendar fails.

Zentyal 3.0 updated to latest version.

Only error which I can found is in apache sll_access.log

176.76.115.47 - miha [04/Oct/2012:09:12:33 +0200] "POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync?Cmd=Sync&User=miha&DeviceId=HTC9384a5523a8d7aa8588d38e88a17f&DeviceType=htcpyramid HTTP/1.1" 500 1046 "-" "Android-EAS/4.5.2214402547.372503"

Try to install d-push package from here and let me know if it works: https://launchpad.net/~bencer/+archive/zarafa.

d-push (formerly z-push) syncs mail but not contacts or calendars
« Reply #2 on: October 07, 2012, 11:33:49 pm »
I have a fresh Zentyal 3.0 server set up with communications and groupware installed.
My router has port 80 and 443 open to the outside forwarding to Zentyal.
I also have mail ports for pop, smtp and imap open.

I have successfully been able to send and receive mail through Zarafa Web Access with an external mail account.
I have succefully synced my Android and iPad over the d-push with ActiveSync ssettings.  The iPad is sync'd over wifi with the server being a local lan address.

The android is sync'd over 4G wireless.

Mail works perfectly.  However, contacts and calendars do not sync at all.  The calendar does not show up in either device either.

I followed instruction here: http://forum.zentyal.org/index.php?topic=11241.0
These instructions do not work.  It breaks the server.  I have tried it with fresh installs three times now.  I paid close attention to the chown and chmods as well.

Also, port 443 defaults to the Zentyal Admin and interferes with the SSL ActiveSync.  I cannot find any posts anywhere that address these issues.

Why does a Fresh Out of the box Zentyal 3.0n install not work as intended?

I tried this and it completely broke mail sync as well.

Yeah, I tried this as well.  No luck.  So far I have been through 5 fresh installs and tried the various suggestions found on the net.  I really wish a feature/functionality like this would work out of the box.

Its supposed to run on 80 or 443 but to be honest I don't know what port zentyal has it running on.
I don't have zarafa up and running at the moment so can't check.

Anyone with zarafa running which port is the zentyal implementation?

An old one but until someone says otherwise.

Depends on your configuration

I think, that by default is running only on 80.
443 is occupied by administration.

I have mine running on 443 and it syncs calendars and contacts over SSL.  I have several android phones and they all work fine.... actually I even have it going through a reverse proxy first.

You have to make sure your port 443 works first (you have to change your zentyal administration port to something else and then activate SSL under the web-server module)  Once SSL is working and you can see the standard Apache it works screen when visiting the site your HTTPS, you should be able to setup active sync by following the directions provided.

Test if the page works by visiting https://your.domain/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync through a regular browser.  See if it even comes up.... if you are successful I believe you see an error that says something along the lines this is for mobile devices only or your browser does not support this connection.  Either way you will know that it is working.... at that point you just have to setup active sync on the phone properly.

I have switch the Admin port on my server and activated SSL on the web server port 443.
I can connect via a browser and am prompted for login credentials.
I can sync the iPad and Android over SSL but still no calendars or contacts.

Interesting this is, when I sync the iPad the option to add an event in the iPad calendar disappears completely.  So the iPad "knows" that the Zentyal calendar is there but it's almost as if it's not allowed to create a new calendar or the functionality isn't present.  Could it be that Zentyal/Zarafa is not communicating with z/d-push properly therefore no backend support to make calendar and contacts work?

Furthermore, the calendar is not even listed in available calendars on the android device.

Just wondered the other gateways such as ical, imap... have you tried those just out of interest.

Also when you try and connect is there anything in the logs?

vshaulsk is your 2.2 or 3.0?
