We are glad to announce that the very first version of the UPS module is now available for testing! This brand new module, that will be included in the next stable Zentyal server release (Zentyal 3.0), will help to protect your server when unexpected power disruptions occur, by properly shutting down the system.

This first version of the UPS management module integrates the NUT daemon to monitor the UPS devices connected to the local system. It reads all the variables published by the UPS and allows to change its settings such as the low battery threshold, shutting down your system properly when an event is triggered.

Please note that this is the first version of the module and we're looking forward to your feedback to improve and complete it. So, gentlemen, it's time to install the module, configure it and pull the plug to see what happens. We're looking forward to receiving your reports! Oh, and did we mention that this is recommended for testing environments only ;)!

You should be able to install the module through the Software Management module on an existing 2.3-1 installation, or via commandline with sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install zentyal-nut. Once installed, you'll be able to access the UPS module configuration under the Maintenance --> UPS menu.

Happy testing!

Now you've done it. Sleepless nights until September, fever and the irresistible urge to upgrade  ;D
