Ebox-printers module and usb hplip printer
« on: February 19, 2009, 07:44:41 am »
Dear users/ebox

I find ebox fascinating as it allows me to install a complete Linux server with limited Linux knowledge.
Everything works fine except one small thing with my printer.
It is connected through usb and hplip is correctly identifying it.

However, do I need to make some kind of symbolic link from that hp:/usb/printername?serial=serialnumber string to /dev/usb0 - /dev/usb9 as ebox only allows me to select usb0 through usb9 without mentioning what is actually going on? PS. I actually don't see any /dev/usbX devices...

I have a possible solution although I don't think it is the correct way of doing it, after installing it in ebox, I manually edit the printers.conf file to point to the hp:/ string... I have to do that every reboot as the new ebox (unstable) version rewrites all the config files at boot time again (can I switch of ebox?)

Can any of you console gurus give me some advice? On how to do it correctly?

Best regards,
