Zentyal - Static Route Problem
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:33:37 pm »
Hello,

  I would try to replace my old server by Zentyal.

  I connected my network (192.168.10.0/24) to my neighbor (192.168.0.0/24) to
  Using a small footbridge programmed with the IP address 192.168.10.1 on my side
  and 192.168.0.1 on the side of my neighbor.

  This allows me to access my neighbor's Home Sever (192.168.0.254) and another server (192.168.0.253).

  Under my old server, I simply defined a static route and it worked very well.

  Old server IP: 192.168.10.250

  With Zentyal, I have a problem:

  If I set a static route as it was in the old server,
  From one of the machines on my network, I know machines ping
  my neighbor, but I have no services available.

  However, I am sending mail on the server from my neighbor.

  For cons, the Zentyal itself, I have access to all services.

  Someone an idea

You may want to take a look at the firewall definitions. Have you done something there?

Hello,

Zentyal on himself, I can accede to my neighbor's machine.
 (web, ftp, ssh).

But know my machines ping the machine but my neighbor can not get service like ssh.

 For cons, I can send mail on the server from my neighbor!

It seems that most ports are closed.

That makes me think that the static route works well but the problem is between Zentyal and local machines.

I did a test by adding the parameter "any" in any section of the firewall.

Same result

I even remade a reinstallation of Zentyal

Same result

Hello,

 To test:

 I set eth0 (192.168.10.0/24) => EXTERNAL

 I added a NIC (eth2) I defined 192.168.20.1/24 (internal) on which I
 plugged one of my pc with an ip in this range (192.168.20.10/24) and ..........

IT WORKS !!!

I have web access, ftp and ssh from my neighbor has this machine .....

Even leaving the firewall's default rule.

 But it's stupid to have to add a NIC just to get access to a subnet. While there is a gateway and a single NIC could do the trick.

 NOTE: eth1 => DHCP => Internet (external)

 To be continued ....
