Hi fellow eBox users,

We are glad to announce the release of our first installer for the 1.3 development branch.

The main new features of this version are:

- PPPoE support
- RADIUS module
- Webmail (roundcube) module

And many other minor improvements and bugfixes!

You can download it at: http://www.ebox-platform.com/download/beta

Remember that this is beta software and it is not intended for production use.

All these features and much more will be available in the next 1.4 stable version. In the meanwhile, you can help us starting to test the 1.3 version.

What do you mean with "is it ready to be installed"?

As the announce says: "Remember that this is beta software and it is not intended for production use."

So I would say that you should install it only test machines. Regarding the upgrade, there is no guarantee of success. But if you want to help us testing it, go ahead!

That's right, dahdi-modules is only on the CD, we'll try to fix it soon and upload it to the ppa compiled for a newer version of the kernel.

But I don't know why the installer can't find your cd-rom. After the first stage of the installation the cd-rom is automatically ejected. When the installer asks you for it, you should insert it again. (usually it asks for it twice). Do you get any error? Are you using a real machine or a virtual one?

I just wasn't paying attention much. I think I'm good for now. Would having this in my sources.list work to help for testing or is that for 1.2 testing?

I haven't had much of an issue testing eBox so far since there's a good enough amount of testing so far, but I'm still curious regardless. I want to wait for 1.4, but all the new features being implemented seem so cool.

There are known issues with virtualbox that may be similar in vmware. In virtualbox you need to unmount the iso just after the first stage of the installation finishes, and mount it again when the second stage asks you for it.

What do you mean? Are you using eBox 1.3.10? You have to select PPPoE as the method for the eth1 interface and enter the proper username and password. ppp0 should be raised when saving changes. If that doesn't work please paste here the output of the "plog" command to see if there is any error.
