« on: July 18, 2009, 05:02:12 »
How I can install ebox-mail on Ubuntu 9.04 (x64)? I installed the ebox, but I can found the ebox-mail in the aptitude.
This is the list of the modules that i have: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/ebox.html#ebox-modules

Although our main focus is in Ubuntu 8.04, we will release new packages for 9.04  during the next week.

As far as eBox is based on Ubuntu 8.04, I would recommend you to use that version (8.04) until new packages for other versions are out.

We will be releasing the first alpha preview of the 1.3 development series for jaunty really soon. If you want to try the stable release you will have to stay with 1.2 for now.

Best regards

Does anyone know the status of eBox 1.2 on Jaunty? In May there was this:

Having said that, we still release packages for Intrepid and Jaunty, but you must expect them to be less tested and it will take us a bit more to release them, actually, we focus first on getting something stable for Hardy before going for something else.

In July there was this:

Although our main focus is in Ubuntu 8.04, we will release new packages for 9.04  during the next week.

And as of Sept there is a bug report …

http://trac.ebox-platform.com/ticket/1462

… and I am wondering if I should count on this happening at some point, or if the effort has been abandoned.

Thanks!

We have already released 1.3 packages for Jaunty. 1.3 is very similar to 1.2. The main difference is 1.3 supports master/slave configuration in LDAP.

We have already released 1.3 packages for Jaunty. 1.3 is very similar to 1.2.

But how stable is it? I note that the description page warns, "the Jaunty packages are even more experimental than the Hardy ones." I'm afraid I lack the expertise to do much experimentation. :)

Also, I'd like to use eBox for OpenVPN.

Edit: Indeed, I gave it a shot a couple times with 1.3, but eBox hangs on Save Changes ("Current operation: Starting...") and won't respond after a restart.
