Problem logging in
« on: March 09, 2012, 12:06:39 »
Little intel:
I just installed a server with ubuntu 12.04 minimal.
the second thing i did was: sudo apt-get install ebox
apt installed zentyal 2.0.16-0ubuntu2
the only question from the dpkg configuration was about the port to use for https wich is 443.
Then i made an apt-get upgrade and restarted.

Now i find myself connecting from another pc to the server, https://ip-of-the-server/
using firefox 11
There is a panel asking user and password.
The only user in the system is the one i used during the installation, (and the ubuntu hidden root user, that i have still not given any password).
Everytime i give user and password the interface says: Incorrect password

Any suggestions?
How can i get zentyal to work or give me a login?

Zentyal 2.0 is not exactly the newest version. Further, Ubuntu 12.04 is still beta and not supported for Zentyal 2.x
The first BETA packages and installer for Zentyal 2.3 (Zentyal 3.0 to be) are just released.

I think you try to install the wrong packages on the wrong platform.

Try to install Zentyal 2.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and you will do just fine. Trying to install on unsupported platforms _might_ be possible but is not supported, so I am afraid you are on your own in this case.

Or did you mean you tried Zentyal 2.3 packages on ubuntu 12.04? In that case this thread should be moved to beta testing.

I see your point.
I should have thinked before i typed.
http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Documentation/Community/Installation/InstallationGuide?redirectedfrom=Document/Documentation/InstallationGuide
i just enabled the ppa with 2.3 now
i'll try that instead of the one in the ubuntu repository.
I don't mind of using a beta.
Anyway the problem was with the ebox package in the ubuntu official repositories.
I will try now 2.3 for 12.04 and see if i can login.

If you are new to Zentyal and want to do a testrun, I strongly suggest to use the stable version. When you use the ubuntu12.04 beta and zentyal 2.3beta packages, you will almost for sure end up with a bad system due to bugs.

So the advice remains to use Ubuntu 10.04 and Zentyal 2.2 packages. To make it easy on yourself, use the installer image.

It would be nice if you give some more info that 'doesn't work'

Any error messages? Logs?

Same problem here, I only get incorrect password after installing zentyal package 2.3.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 fresh install. The error.log in /var/log/zentyal says :

No sudo group by the way. I get only warnings when reading access.log.
When reading zentyal.log, I get a Ebox::Auth::authen_cred : failed login from 10.8.128.24 (which is the computer I use to get logged in)

Sudo group is for Zentyal 2.3 / Ubuntu 12.04 This is still in beta.

If you run 2.0/2.2 there is the admin group.

Can you check what users your account actualy is member of?
Code: [Select]
groups <username>
