I think that puppet is overkilled for SMB, take a look at HW requirementes http://docs.puppetlabs.com/pe/2.0/install_system_requirements.html (they are for enterpriser version, I wasn't able to find the community version requirements)

The puppet master role should be installed on a robust, dedicated server.
Minimum requirements:
2 processor cores, 1 GB RAM, and very accurate timekeeping.
Recommended requirements:
Physical hardware or Xen or KVM virtual server, with 2-4 processor cores and 4 GB RAM. Performance will vary, but this configuration can generally manage approximately 1,000 agent nodes.

I agree totally. But also the mechanism and that weird abstraction language based on nodes have me spinning

I think puppet is to much also, anyone else?
