[QUESTION] - Zentyal 3.0RCx and TRIM Support
« on: September 08, 2012, 05:31:54 »
I search the forums for this question / answer and could not find anything that gave me a conlcusive answer.

First, my overall system specs....

AMD Athlon Dual Core, Frist Gen X2 Chip
Older Biostart Motherboard
4 GIGs DDR1
Dual NICs
40 GIG Intel SSD on built in NForce Control SATA I Controller.

I have installed the system on the SSD and it flies! Very happy with Zentyal as a whole regardless of it being on SSD or not. But the SSD really makes a (to me anyways) notable differnce.

My questionn is this; Does a basic install, without modifying any scripts or config files, automatically allow native TRIM support for the SSD?

If not can someone point me to a tutorial on how to enable support, assuming it exists. Would the generic tutrials for Ubuntu 12.x work all the same?

Thanks for any help!

-Scott

There is nothing about SSD and TRIM here most likely because this is pure Ubuntu stuff.
However, your point and question here is very valid when installation is done from Zentyal ISO as settings will be the ones selected by Zentyal  8)

I might be wrong but I don't think there is any specific setting for SSD, meaning you will have to manually apply some at least in fstab (like discard and noatime)
