problem with dyndns wildcards and vhosts
« on: July 28, 2012, 08:23:39 »
hi there,

i have a little problem here. i have some virtual hosts (i.e. http://erp) which i can access via my internal lan. is it possible to access this vhost from external via a dyndns wildcard domain (i.e. erp.mydnsname.dyndns.org)? I´ve tried a couple of settings but i didn´t get it to work and now i wonder if this is possible anyway?

I think the easiest approach would be to configure a dyndns domain and add that domain to Zentyal DNS for internal resolving.

so, it´s not possible to redirect erp.mydnsname.dyndns.org to the virtual domain http://erp? i think it would be better to memorize for my employees ;)

Edit: when i take your solution - i have to add my virtual hosts like that: erp.mydnsname.dydns.org - right?

You can make an alias in DNS for http://erp but that would only work internally. (read: when using Zentyal DNS on the local LAN)
