More advanced firewall and quagga configurations
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:48:23 »
Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to Zentyal and have been evaluating it as a replacement for our existing firewall/router/VPN appliance.  Most of the features seem pretty OK, but i am very disappointed with the level of control available over the firewall and quagga.

Is there a Zentyal employee who can tell me about how up-to-date this page is (http://trac.zentyal.org/wiki/Document/Development/Wishlist/Module/Firewall), and where the features suggested on it sit in terms of Zentyal's priorities for the product?

There may be some opportunities in this either to pay for some more advanced features to be developed, or to contribute updated/new modules which provide this functionality.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Hi,

the Wishlist for Firewall is up-to-date. Wishlists might contain minor things that can configured other way in Zentyal, for example:

* Add support for all the protocols available in /etc/protocols: you can always create by hand the services
* Port forwarding to accept network objects and services: the same, you can create the rules using IPaddr and ports, instead of objects and services

What do you exactly miss in Zentyal firewall? If there is something you really need, you can sponsor features, some partners and customers have made this in the past.

Also if you have Linux knowledge, with the Enterprise support, custom configuration stubs and hooks are covered and our support engineers will help you to configure those on a best effort, no guarantee though as its a feature not present in the product.

Regards,
